1. Gladiator sandals.  These are sandals that have multiple straps.  They range from flats to heels.  I got adorable ones at Payless!  And I get more compliments on them.  They look really cute with straight leg jeans.  And I am not falling down chasing my 4 year old, cause they are flats!  Doesn’t do much for my 5 foot 3 stature, but still very cute.
  2. Bright colors:  I was reading that the hot color hue is this mustard yellow color.  If you can pull that off-good for you!  I know I cannot.  I would look washed out and my complexion would look nasty.  SO if you want to add the hot color to your wardrobe-do a purse, diaper bag or maybe a cute pair of shades in that yellow.  Me, I am picking another bright color; try grass green, aqua, swimming pool blue or even a hot purple.
  3. BIG Jewelry: OK, so I admit I do have some of that laying around!  I can simply use what I have, but if you don’t-just grab a cute necklace or earrings in a neutral color you can wear with many things.
  4. Ruffles-hmmmmm….Not sure on this little trend either, but I did get a cute nightie with ruffles, does that count?  I must stress to be very careful with this category.  It could get ugly very quickly!  You never want to add a ruffle around your “bad” spots.  Example if you are pear shaped, do not purchase something with ruffles around your hiney.  Stick to ruffles on your shirt-maybe even down the V of a shirt.
  5. Stripes-I say NO!  Unless those bad-boys are running vertical on my body!  You will not find this mom in any stripes!  Unless they are strategically placed to make my waist or butt look smaller.  If anyone finds a good piece of striped clothing-let the rest of us in on it!
  6. 80’s!  Amen to that!  If I just had kept more of my clothes I would be all set.  Seriously though, I have seen a view women go a bit overboard here.  A piece here or there is ok, but please do not do it all 80’s.  The most flattering pieces have been the cute long tops with a belt.  You can place the belt higher to give an empire waist effect or long slung to give a kind of sexy-messy look.  Either way-it is a cute way to bring back the 80’s without having to get out the leg warmers.
  7. Floral Prints-This might be one of my favorites for the season.  I have seen cute dresses and shirts that just yell “spring or summer” when looking at them.  You can choose these pieces based on what you like and know that the cute florals are a fashion must have for this season.
  8. Pants that flow-definitely one of my favorites.  These pants seem to flatter all of us moms.  These can be anything from jeans to very pretty flowy dress pants.  I would try and choose material that is stretch and one that does not wrinkle-seems to be many that are linen and I do not have time to iron.  These look very cute with gladiator style heels.
  9. Safari prints and khaki/nude colors-Very cute jackets out there…or just add a leopard print scarf.  The sky is the limit here.  Just one simple piece and “put the icing on the cake” for a simple outfit.  Have fun with this one.
  10. Mixed reviews on hemlines-some say mini and others say long, so I guess you can pick!  Again, be careful with this one-it can get ugly quick!  I have seen moms in long flowing skirts that just look ridiculous because they are so little and I have seen some that have little minis on that look extremely trashy.  A cute jean or khaki mini skirt that is a nice length would be a good piece to invest in this season.  If you can get away with the long flowy skirt-go for it, or get one that is not so much fabric so it doesn’t engulf you.  These are so comfy and cool, and tend to look better than shorts on me.  So check them out in nice, lightweight patterns or a simple black or white one.
  11. Extra-Collars that are asymmetrical and metallic.  These are both the extreme pieces for the season, one I have not invested in because I am not sure I would get adequate use out of it.  Maybe a cute dress for a wedding?  I a raincoat in metallic-but really, how much will it be worn.  I think even a purse in metallic would be enough.
